22/May/2022 - Structure Fire - "B" Shift

Incident # 22-03948 - Lightning struck a house in the 900 block of Pynes Community Rd Sunday morning 22-May. Thunderstorms passed through the county midday Sunday. Lighting struck this house near the chimney setting the home on fire. The occupants safely exited the building and ran down to the street to a nearby house to call 9-1-1 at 11:47. Engine 6 arrived approximately 9 minutes later to find fire venting through the roof and heavy smoke coming from the eaves of the single story wood frame structure. Firefighter-Paramedics made entry into the home with one hand line and quickly knocked down the fire, which had already entered the attic. A hole had been blown through the roof and the floor near the chimney. The interior of the home suffered heavy damage from the fire. The middle of the home suffered substantial damage. Fire crews deployed additional hand lines and were on the scene for three and half hours performing overhaul. Several rooms were saved, but received smoke and water damage. 

Engine 2, Engine 6, Tender 1, Tender 2, Tender 6, Tender 13, Tender 27, Medic 6, Medic 13, Battalion 1, Car 112 and Car 118 responded. Captain Joseph Holmes served as Incident Commander.
