Incident # 22-04718 - A Summerville man died from injuries received in an ATV accident off of Parkers Ferry Road in Colleton County Saturday afternoon 18-June. At 14:58, Colleton County 9-1-1 received a report of the accident advising it was on Parkers Ferry Rd near Lowndes Landing. The GPS from the cell phone indicated the caller was south of the reported location and well off of the road. Parkers Ferry Rd is a 12 mile long dirt road that parallels the Edisto River and runs through a large tree farm. Access to some areas of the road are poor. Fire-Rescue sent units from Cottageville on the north end and Jacksonboro/Green Pond from the south end. The CARE Flight helicopter launched from Walterboro to also assist in the search. Fire-Rescue units and Cottageville Police found the incident location in a sandpit about half way down Parkers Ferry Rd from Sullivan's Landing Road. The accident was about 650 feet off of the roadway down a dirt path near the Edisto River. The initial call to 9-1-1 advised the ATV had rolled over on the man and he was not breathing. Bystanders were reported to be performing CPR. Firefighter-Paramedics, after arriving in the remote area, found the victim to have no signs of life and notified the Coroner's Office. The victim was a passenger in the vehicle and was ejected when the ATV side by side rolled over. The driver was not injured. The SC HIghway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Engine 2, Engine 9, Medic 6, Medic 9, Battalion 1, Car 112 and CARE Flight responded. Lt. Ray Delonge served as Incident Commander.
