Emergency Management Division - What is OpCon?

OpCon is Colleton County's Operational Condition and there are five levels as described below:

OpCon 5

Normal Operations.  The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is not activated, but EMD personnel continually monitor weather and emergency incidents.  

OpCon 4

There is the possibility of an emergency or disaster situation occurring.  The Emergency Operations Center may be partially or fully activated depending on the status of the threat.  

OpCon 3

A disaster or emergency situation is likely.  The Colleton County Emergency Operations Center and Emergency Operations Plan may be partially or fully activated.  

OpCon 2

A disaster or emergency situation is imminent.  The Emergency Operations Center is likely fully staffed, shelters may be opened, and additional staff may be implemented to prepare for the event.  

OpCon 1

A major disaster or emergency is occurring.  The Colleton County Emergency Operations Center is fully activated and this is the highest response level.
