Stations 7 and 18 responded to a gun shot wound to the chest at 1700 Monday 11-August. After Sheriff's Deputies cleared the scene, Medic 18's crew found the patient lying in the yard. He was suffering from a chest wound with associated breathing problems and absent breath sounds on one side. Firefighter-Paramedics established two large bore IV lines and decompressed the patient's chest to improve his breathing. A medical helicopter was called the scene and landed at a field in the Town limits of Smoaks. The patient was transported from the scene about 1-1/2 miles to meet with Lifenet 3. He was flown to MUSC's Trauma Center in Charleston .

 Engine 7, Engine 18, Medic 18, Truck 12, Truck 111 and Lifenet 3 responded.
