Stations 6 and 27 responded to a multiple shooting incident at 55 Jared Road south of Walterboro at 1242, Friday 30-January. Sheriff’s Deputies cleared the scene prior to the arrival of Battalion 1. A 22 year old male was found to be deceased lying in the front yard with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A second patient, a 19 year old male was found inside the mobile home with a single large caliber gunshot wound to his left leg. He was treated at the scene by Firefighter-Paramedics and transported by Medic 27 to Colleton Medical Center. Medic 6 was not needed and cancelled. Sheriff’s Office personnel were processing the scene.

At approximately 1330 a second shooting incident occurred at 1332 McMillan Street. The 17 year old male received several gunshot wounds to one leg with other complicating injuries. The closest available medical helicopter had an extended estimated time of arrival, so Medic 27 transported the patient to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. In a press release, the Sheriff’s Office stated the two incidents may be related.
