Colleton County Fire-Rescue
3/7/2009
Colleton’s 1152 Fundamentals of Firefighting
course completed testing Saturday, 7-March. Students and Instructors
traveled to the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort to utilize the
base’s burn building. This was the first class to be tested under the
Fire Academy’s new 1152 curriculum, so there were some bugs to be worked
out. The written portion was administered on Wednesday. Practical testing
began at 0930 Saturday and lasted until late afternoon. Students were
evaluated on rapid dress with turnout gear, SCBA, ladders, hose
loads/deployment and fire attack to name a few. It was a beautiful day for
the training. Students should be receiving the results of their testing
within the next few weeks. The class was made up mostly of students from
Colleton County and some neighboring departments. Four Colleton County
Explorers also participated. Upon successful completion, the Explorers
will receive provisional certificates until their 18th.
