Stations 5, 19, 24 and 26 responded to a large fast moving woods fire at 1574 McLeod Road on Monday 23-March at 1237. The fire rapidly spread onto the property of Cooks Marine Service, setting several boats on fire. Engine 26 initially arrived to find the woods fire and three fully involved boats with several other boats endangered. Additional units and manpower were requested as well as a tractor and Ranger from the Forestry Commission. Unit deployed multiple handlines to control the blaze and extinguish the boats. The apparently spread from a field fire from the day before. Driven by high winds the fire burned several acres, destroyed three boats and damaged two other boats. The Forestry Commission is investigating the origin of the fire. Fire-Rescue units were on the scene for 3-1/2 hours.   

Engine 5, Engine 24, Engine 26, Tender 19 and Brush 24 responded. Firefighter-EMT Robbie Sherry served as Incident Commander.
