Stations 1, 19 and 26 responded to a dwelling fire at 170 Sloan Circle at 2348 on Tuesday night, 9-June. A Sheriff’s Deputy arrived to report heavy smoke conditions with fire visible inside the structure. Engine 19 arrived to deploy two 1-3/4 handlines. Crews made entry through the front door and quickly knocked down the fire which was contained to the kitchen in the center of the singlewide mobile home. One of the occupants, reported he was sleeping when he was awaken by the smoke and flames. He was able to escape by breaking a bedroom window and climbing out of the building. The 34 year old man received several lacerations to his hands and back that were received during his escape.

The fire started from a pot of food left cooking on the stove. It spread to the kitchen wall and into the void space above the kitchen. Firefighters were able to stop the spread of the fire and contain it to the Kitchen and the adjacent laundry room. The remainder of the home suffered smoke damage. No one else was home at the time of the fire and the home had no working smoke alarms. Medic 19 treated the man at the scene, but he refused transport to the hospital.

Battalion 1 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic Sterling Wright served as Incident Commander.
