Station 19 responded to a fatal auto/pedestrian MVC in the 1300 block of Barracada Road just west of the intersection of Double Bogey Lane, Saturday morning 4-July at 0201. Units arrived to find a middle aged woman lying in the ditch on the north side of the road. It appeared she was thrown approximately 35 to 40 feet from the where she was hit. The victim suffered multiple traumatic injuries and had no signs of life. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Coroner’s Office was notified. She was wearing dark clothing and according to witness statements was in the roadway at the time of the accident. There is no street lighting on this dark stretch of rural road. The driver of the pickup truck that struck her was not injured. Sheriff’s Office deputies and SC Highway Patrol responded and investigated the scene.

Engine 19, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Truck 12 responded. Engineer-EMT-I Chuck Moyer served as Incident Commander.
