Stations 6, 8 and 13 responded to a fall with injuries at  Bluff Plantation on Combahee Road on Monday afternoon 13-July at 1400. Fellow construction workers found the 26 year old man lying face down on the concrete driveway. He had been working on the roof of the residence when he was last seen and apparently fell approximately 25 feet. The man was unconscious and suffered an obvious head injury. Station 8 first responders arrived first and began stabilizing the patient, which included airway stabilization and an IV. He was bleeding profusely from multiple injuries to his head and face. Omniflight was requested to fly to the scene. The patient was also having problems breathing. He was immobilized and placed in Medic 6 where he was intubated, then transported to a nearby field to wait on the helicopter. Omniflight arrived quickly and flew the man to the Trauma Center at MUSC. He remained in critical condition through the night and has not regained consciousness.

Engine 13, Medic 6 and Truck 111 responded. Firefighter-EMT-I Scottie O’Quinn served as Incident Commander. Bluff Plantation served as a site for a portion of the 1994 film “Forest Gump”.
