Colleton County Fire-Rescue

7/17/2009

Station 11 has been relocated to a temporary building at 8138 Rehoboth Road in the Creeltown Community. The site is on Rehoboth Road about ½ block south of Augusta Hwy. After several years of unsuccessfully attempting to work out a lease for the previous building, County Council directed the Administrator to move out of the building. A temporary, one bay structure was erected at the old Creeltown water system site to house Engine 11. This will allow the volunteer firefighters  in the area to continue serving the residents. The temporary building was completed Thursday, so the Engine was relocated Friday morning. Tender 11 was moved to Station 9. No changes to first alarm responses was necessary. Additional equipment and manpower will continue to be supplied from Stations 5, 9 and 19.

County Council approved the purchase of two acres of land about one mile from Creeltown for the construction of a new Station 11. They are working with the Fire-Rescue Commission to maintain coverage in the northeastern communities. It is hoped the building will be completed by the first of the year. ISO representatives were notified of the move. The new facility will be located

in a better location, enhancing responses for the area. Station 11 responded from the new facility about six hours after it became operational.

Any personnel wishing to have a key to the temporary building can contact headquarters. A touch key entry was not installed due to the limitations on the small door of the metal building.
