Stations 7, 17 and 18 responded to a single car high speed MVC in the 1000 block of Drain Road north of Smoaks, Saturday evening 1-August at 19:10. A south bound vehicle on Drain Road, drove off of the north bound side of the road, over-corrected and struck the ditch embankment on the southbound side overturning once. The unrestrained 47 year old driver was ejected through the sunroof and was found lying on the ground behind the car near the wood line. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries, but was conscious at the scene. He was treated at the accident site by Medic 18 and then transported to a nearby baseball field to meet with the Omniflight-Charleston Helicopter. He was flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident to determine if alcohol was a contributing factor.
