Stations 11 and 19
responded to a single car MVC in the 17000 block of Augusta Hwy., just
west of Cannon Road on Sunday afternoon 30-August at 12:52 PM. The 21
year old female driver stated she fell asleep. When she drove off of
the right side of the road she awaken and over corrected, then driving
off of the left side of the road. She entered the ditch, struck a tree
and flipped over. The convertible sustained heavy damage. The woman
received several traumatic injuries, including head trauma. She was
able to crawl out of the car and was found near the vehicle when
Fire-Rescue arrived. Due to the possible head injury, a medical
helicopter was requested. Omniflight-Charleston flew to a field near
the intersection of Augusta Hwy. and Sidney’s Road. The patient was
flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. Engine 19 , Medic 19,
Battalion 1 and Truck 12 responded. Firefighter Ethan Shider served as
Incident Commander. |
