Colleton County Fire-Rescue

12/05/2009

Colleton County Fire-Rescue was invited to assist with the “Shop with Santa’s Heroes” this year. Six Fire-Rescue employees participated along with twenty-five members of the various Law Enforcement agencies and Walterboro Firefighters to help out the Foster Children in the County. Twenty one children attended the event which was coordinated by Angela Stallings of the Walterboro Public Safety Department. The focus was changed this year to cover all Public Safety agencies. It had previously been called Shop with a Cop. Local businesses and individuals donated the funds to purchase gift cards for the children. Each child was assigned to a least one Public Safety member and escorted in a department vehicle to the Walterboro Wal-Mart at 0730 Saturday, 5-December. The children were allowed to shop and select the items of their choosing up to the amount of the gift cards. Wal-Mart also added a discount to make the cards go a little farther. Following the shopping spree, the children were taken to Burger King on Bells Highway where Mr. Cook and his daughter Ms. Stroble donated breakfast for all participants.
