Stations 1, 19 and 27 responded to a three vehicle MVC at the intersection of Cottageville Hwy. (US Hwy. 17-A) and Sidneys Road Tuesday afternoon 9-March at 1523. Two vehicles were in the intersection with the third small SUV off the road on the opposite side of the street in some trees. One driver received severe multiple traumatic injuries. She was treated at the scene, packaged with full C-spine precautions, IVs and transported by Medic 19 to the Lowcountry Regional Airport to meet with a medical helicopter. The other patients were transported by Medic 27 to Colleton Medical Center. Omniflight-Charleston responded to the airport and flew the patient to the Trauma Center at MUSC. Traffic on Cottageville Highway was down to one lane for about 40 minutes.

Engine 19, Medic 19, Medic 27, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Truck 12 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
