Colleton County Fire-Rescue

4/24/2010

Fire-Rescue participated in the 34th annual Rice Festival Parade held Saturday morning 24-April in Walterboro. Firefighters from several stations polished and cleaned their apparatus days in advance, to show them off to the community. Despite light rain, a large crowd of people turned out for the 2-1/2 mile long parade which started from South Jefferies Blvd at DeTreville Street. The route followed Jefferies Blvd north, then turned onto Forest Hills Road to end at Ivanhoe Drive. Battalion 1 led the procession of County Fire Apparatus, which included the ARFF, HazMat and two each of a Medic Unit, Engine, Tender, Rescue and Ladder. The drivers coordinated a show of the Q2 sirens at one point which produced a deafening sound, heard for the entire parade route. The units were a big thrill for the kids and adults alike.

Battalion 1, ARFF 19, Medic 6, Medic 26, Engine 1, Engine 19, Tender 1, Tender 8, Rescue 1, Rescue 18, Ladder 6, Ladder 19 and HazMat 19 participated.
