Stations 5, 7, 17, 18 and 26 responded to a structure fire at 6719 Sunrise Road at 0640, Friday morning 7-May. Initial calls to 9-1-1 reported the home was well involved. Engine 7 arrived approximately 10 minutes later to find the older singlewide mobile home 50% involved with the roof collapsed on the “C” side of the structure. The occupants including two infants escaped unharmed. A school bus driver, Teresa Stephens, is credited with alerting the family to the fire. According to bystanders, she noticed the burning building and blew the horn on the bus to awaken the family.

Engine 7 deployed two 1-3/4 handlines to combat the fire which gutted the entire structure. The fire is believed to have started under the floor in the living room in some electrical wiring. The fire spread under the structure eventually burning through the floor to involve the interior. Water supply was handled with Tenders pumping to Engine 7. Units remained on scene for three hours.

Engine 7, Engine 26, Tender 5, Tender 7, Tender 17, Tender 18, Tender 26, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 11 and Car 12 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
