Station 1 responded to a single car high speed MVC on Peniel Road near Baxter Lane Tuesday afternoon 15-June at 1225. A Ford Expedition lost control in a curve, causing the vehicle to spin around backwards. The SUV began to flip over, but struck several trees roof first causing heavy damage to the car, trapping the driver. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the man while inside the vehicle, stabilizing him during the extrication. Holmatro Rescue tools were used to remove both side doors and the “B” post. The man was extricated with full spinal precautions, then transported to Colleton Medical Center for evaluation. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. Engine 1, Rescue 1, Medic 1, Battalion 1 and Car 116 responded. Battalion Chief Richard Sheffield served as Incident Commander. |
