Stations 1, 2, 6 and 19 responded to a high speed single vehicle MVC on Charleston Highway (SC Hwy 64) approximately ½ mile west of Jacksonboro Road Sunday morning 18-July at 0017. The 2002 Mazda failed to negotiate a curve, struck an embankment, then lost control and over turned in the center of Charleston Highway. All traffic in both directions was blocked. Law Enforcement had been attempting to located the vehicle, having received multiple reports of erratic driving. An off-duty Station 4 firefighter and Sheriff Deputies patrolling the Jacksonboro Area arrived within minutes of the crash. Both occupants were reported to be trapped in the over-turned car. Firefighters from Engine # 2 and Medic 19 who was returning from Charleston arrived a short time later. They were able to force one door open. Both occupants were extricated from the vehicle and treated at the scene. Both patients were transported to Colleton Medical Center by ambulances in Medic 6 and Medic 19. Traffic on Charleston Highway was tied up for over an hour until the vehicle could be removed. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating to determine if alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.

Engine 2, Rescue 1, Medic 6, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
