Station 19 responded to a moped vs car accident at the intersection of Sidneys Road and Industrial Road Sunday afternoon 18-July at 1326. The moped ran into the back of a Honda Odyssey mini-van causing the moped driver to fall into the roadway. The patient received multiple trauma injuries including a head injury. He was not wearing a helmet. The man was unconscious when Firefighter-Paramedics arrived. They found him face down in the roadway. The man was treated at the scene for his injuries and a medical helicopter was contacted to transport him to a trauma center. Omniflight-Savannah (Lifestar) landed in the field at New York Wire on Industrial Road and flew the injured man to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. No one was injured in the mini-van.
