Station 9 responded to a high speed single vehicle MVC on Sidneys Road at the intersection of Rising Stage Lane, Monday 19-July at 1101. The location of the accident is near the Edisto River at the Dorchester County line. Apparently a southbound Ford pickup truck veered off of the right hand shoulder and lost control after coming back on the roadway. The vehicle flipped over several times ejecting both unrestrained female occupants. The driver was killed instantly from severe multiple traumatic injuries. A 15 year girl also suffered multiple traumatic injuries. She was treated by Firefighter-Paramedics at the scene and then transported to a nearby field to meet with a medical helicopter. Lifenet 3 responded to the scene and flew the girl to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston SC. Traffic on Sidneys Road was closed in the area of the accident for about an hour. The SC Highway Patrol and Coroner’s Office are investigating the crash.
