“B” Shift – Shooting Incident

Station 18 responded to a double shooting at 1223 Homestead Drive Sunday morning 25-July, at 0513. Sheriff’s Deputies and Firefighter-Paramedics found one woman dead at the scene and an adult male with critical gunshot injuries to the face. Crews worked diligently to control the bleeding and secure the man’s airway. Firefighter-Paramedics performed RSI on the patient to secure his damaged airway. A medical helicopter was requested and Lifenet 3 landed in a field several doors down from the home. The man was flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston in critical condition. He was undergoing emergency surgery shortly after arrival. The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office are working on the case.

Engine 18, Medic 18, Battalion 1, Car 11 and Car 17 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic Brian Rowe served as Incident Commander. Firefighter Jeff Laney managed the LZ Sector..
