“C” Shift – MVC with ejection

Run # 10-04148 - Stations 1, 7, 18 and 26 responded to a high speed single vehicle MVC on Lowcountry Hwy (US Hwy 21) at Brady Lane near the Bamberg County Line Wednesday evening 28-July at 2150. The northbound vehicle left the roadway at a high rate of speed, over-turning several times. Engine 7 arrived to find the vehicle upright on Brady Lane. The three Hispanic male occupants were found outside the vehicle with various traumatic injuries consistent with ejection. There was a language barrier. Medic 26 arrived a short time later and a second Medic unit was requested to transport the third patient. Medic 1 responded. After treating and packaging the three patients the Medic units began transport to Colleton Medical Center. While enroute to the ED, Medic 1’s patient deteriorated rapidly due to his severe injuries. An additional unit was requested to assist with the critical patient. Medic 18 and Battalion 1 responded, meeting Medic 1 at Tabor Church on Bells Hwy. The critical patient was later transferred by Medic 26 to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating to determine if alcohol was a contributing factor.

Engine 7, Medic 1, Medic 18, Medic 26 and Battalion 1 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic Steve Sanders served as Incident Commander.
