“A” Shift – Structure Fire

Run # 10-04883 – Stations 1, 19, 26 and 27 responded to a structure at 296 Oxford Drive Friday morning 3-September at 11:18. Engine 19, Tender 19, Medic 19  and Car 11 arrived to find light smoke showing from the “D” side of the two story single family dwelling. The occupants had already exited the building and indicated the fire was in the utility room. Fire had already burned through the utility room window. Crews deployed one 1-3/4 handline, entering the home through the front door. A plastic water line to a sink located in the room melted due to the heat and had extinguished a good portion of the fire. Interior crews used a small amount of water from the handline to completely extinguish the fire. Smoldering clothing and debris were then removed from the building. The fire was contained to the room of origin which suffered heavy damage. The remainder of the home received light smoke damage, with some flooding on the first floor due to the broken water line. Firefighters were able to cut the water off at the meter, lessening the damage.

It appeared the fire originated in the area of an ironing board in the utility room. The fire spread to adjacent clothing. No one was injured during the incident.

Engine 19, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender 19, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 19, Battalion 1, Car 11 and Car 111 responded. Captain Scott Feather served as Incident Commander.
