“C” Shift – Structure fire

Run # 10-05047 - Stations 1, 6, 19 and 26 responded to a structure fire at 40 Chandelier Drive Saturday afternoon 11-September at 1517. Light smoke was found inside the building on arrival. Crews deployed one 1-3/4 hand line to the house. A tree near the residence was struck by lightning during a thunderstorm and the lightning apparently followed the phone lines under the house. The wires shorted out starting a fire in the vapor barrier and insulation under the utility room, burning approximately 16 to 20 square feet of material. Light smoke conditions were also found in the crawl space of the two story dwelling. Firefighters spent approximately 30 minutes searching inside the home and under the structure before they found the cause. The fire had burned itself out and caused little damage to the home. The dryer vent was burned in two pieces and most of the smoke entered the house through the dryer vent. Units were on the scene for an hour.

Engine 1, Tender 1, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 6, Battalion 1, Car 11 and Car 12 responded. Captain Scott Feather served as Incident Commander.
