“A” Shift – Structure Fire

Run # 10-05446 – Stations 1, 9, 19 and 26 responded to a structure fire at 101 Dublin Drive at 1054, Sunday morning 3-October. Engine 19 arrived to find heavy smoke conditions in the singlewide mobile home with heavy fire conditions in the enclosed porch on the rear of the building. Engine 19 deployed two 1-3/4 handlines. Two vehicles were parked in the yard. Interior crews forced entry through the front door encountering the fire in the rear hallway. They were able to push the flames back towards the rear of the structure saving the remainder of the residence. A primary search was conducted with the aid of Thermal Imaging equipment. No one was found to be inside the residence. Most of the fire damage was confined to the rear bedroom, hall and the void space above the living area on that end of the mobile home. A small LP tank on the porch was venting on arrival. Firefighter-Paramedics were able to move the LP tank a safe distance from the building. The valve was damaged so it could not be completely turned off. Exterior crews were able to extinguish the porch and a small amount of fire that had extended under the structure. Much of the family’s personal items

were salvageable, however the home suffered smoke damage throughout the building and the rear bedroom, adjacent bathroom and hallway received heavy fire damage. Fire investigators have determined the fire originated in electrical wiring on an exterior wall which burned outside of the structure, igniting the adjacent wooden porch, then burned into the void space above the living area. Interior crews were able to pull the ceiling down in several rooms and stop the spread of the fire in the void space. The two occupants were at church at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The Charleston Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the family.

Engine 19, Engine 26, Tender 1, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 9, Medic 19, Battalion 1, Car 11 and Car 12 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic (Acting Battalion Chief Brian Rowe) served as Incident Commander.
