“B” Shift – Structure Fire

Run # 10-05619 – Stations 2, 6, 21, 22, and 28 responded to a structure fire at 15529 Bennetts Point Road Wednesday afternoon, 13-October at 1345. The caller to 9-1-1 reported the building as being fully involved. The structure was located behind a thick patch of bamboo, which obstructed it’s view from the road. The fire had been burning a long time before it was discovered. Engines 6 and 21 arrived a short time later to find the elevated singlewide mobile completely destroyed. Little remained but the frame rails elevated on five foot blocks. The structure had two additions on each side of the mobile home, each of which were also destroyed. Engine 6 laid a 3 inch supply line from the road, down a long driveway, then deployed two 1-3/4 handlines to extinguish the fire. The home contained a heavy fire load which took several hours to overhaul. Tenders supplied Engine 6 from the road. Firefighters remained on the scene for over 4 hours. The occupant was not at home at the time of the fire. He lost everything in the building. The cause is under investigation.

Engine 6, Engine 21, Tender 2, Tender 6, Tender 21, Tender 22, Tender 27, Tender 28, Ladder 6, Medic 6, Battalion 1 and Car 11 responded. Firefighter Brian Bishop served as Incident Commander.
