“A” Shift – Fall with Air Evacuation

Run # 10-05952 – An adult male received multiple traumatic injuries when he and a female were thrown from a horse on Red Oak Road near Rebel Lane Saturday afternoon 30-October at approximately 1558. The female was reported to be unconscious. Medic 9 and Engine 9 arrived a few minutes later to find the man in a ditch with a fractured femur  among other complaints. The female was ambulatory at the scene and denied transport to the hospital. Firefighter-Paramedics treated his injuries, including dual IVs and requested a medical helicopter to transport the man to a trauma center. Omniflight-Charleston responded to the scene. Engine 902 established a landing zone is a field near the incident location. The patient was transferred to the flight crew without incident and flown to MUSC in Charleston.

Engine 9, Engine 902, Medic 9, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Lt. Jimmy Jacques served as Incident Commander.
