Incident # 11-00165 – A high speed MVC has sent a 16 year old male to a Charleston Trauma Center. At 19:37, a Chevrolet Tahoe lost control in a curve on Forks Road near Stratford Lane near Islandton. The SUV entered the ditch, then struck a large pine tree before re-entering the roadway and striking a pickup truck. He complained of multiple traumatic injuries and difficulty breathing. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured. Medic 18 arrived minutes later. The patient was immobilized and treated at the scene. A medical helicopter was contacted to fly the patient to a Trauma Center. The boy was transported from the scene to nearby field to meet with Lifenet 3. He was transferred without incident, then flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC.  The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Engine 15, Medic 18 and Car 12 responded. Captain Matthew Owen Williams Jr. served as Incident Commander.
