01/15/2011 – “C” Shift – Structure Fire

Incident # 11-00317 – SLED is assisting in the investigation of a structure fire in the Town of Smoaks. Colleton Firefighters were alerted to smoke coming from a residence at 10 New Street Saturday evening 15-January at 2315. Firefighters arrived four minutes later to find light smoke coming from the eaves of the wood frame single family dwelling. Engine 7 deployed one 1-3/4 handline. Crews made entry through the front door, quickly knocking down the fire in the front of the building. They then contained the remainder of the fire in the rear of the structure. The fire was of suspicious origin. Firefighters secured the scene, notified the Sheriff’s Office and contacted SLED who dispatched an arson agent to the scene. Firefighters were on the scene for over three hours, while investigators spent nearly four additional hours there the next morning. No injuries were reported and no one was at home at the time of the fire.

Engine 7, Engine 31, Tender 3, Tender 7, Tender 18, Tender 23, Squad 23, Medic 18, Battalion 1, Car 12, Car 118, Car 119 responded. Lt. Joseph Campbell served as Incident Commander.
