02/22/2011 – “B” shift – MVC with Air Evacuation

Incident # 11-00956 – A two car collision at the intersection of Lowcountry Highway and Sunrise Road in the Town of Smoaks sent two people to the hospital. A vehicle pulled from Sunrise Road, colliding with a northbound minivan on Lowcountry Highway. Both vehicles received moderate damage, but one occupant received a head injury in the crash. Medic 18 treated the patients and requested an additional ambulance and medical helicopter. Lifenet 3 responded, landing in a field near the accident scene. The man was flown to the Trauma center at MUSC in Charleston. A female patient was transported to Colleton Medical Center. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Engine 7, Medic 18, Medic 26 and Car 12 responded. Captain John Graham served as Incident Commander.
