02/27/2011 – “A” Shift – Trauma Injury with Air Evacuation

Incident # 11-01147 – At 18:29 Sunday evening 27-February, Medic 9 was dispatched to 20864 Augusta Hwy for a person who was injured by a car falling on him. They arrived to find a patient in critical condition with multiple traumatic injuries and head trauma. According to witnesses, the patient had been working on the vehicle when it fell on his head. Personnel treated the man at the scene and requested a medical helicopter to respond. Omniflight-Charleston landed in a field near the home. Medic 9 transported the patient to the LZ, then the patient was flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston.
