Colleton County Fire-Rescue

3/11/2011

We wish to congratulate Assistant Chief David Greene on obtaining Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Designation from the Commission of Professional Credentialing (CPC). The CPC noted that Chief Greene is the ninth person to receive this honorific designation in South Carolina, joining just over 600 Fire Service Professionals nationwide.

CFO Designation requires many years of training and formal education. Chief Fire Officer Designation Program is a voluntary program that recognizes fire officers who have demonstrated excellence and outstanding service throughout their career. According to the CPC, applicants must demonstrate excellence in components that include experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, affiliations, community involvement and technical competencies. Applications are judged by a Board of Review consisting of members of the fire and emergency services profession, academia, and municipal agencies. Successful candidates are recommended for designation to the Commission.

Chief Greene joined the Colleton County Fire Service in 1991, becoming Asst. Fire Chief in 2004. He earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in 1998 from the College of Charleston, obtained an Associates Degree in Applied Science from Pikes Peak Community College in 2004, completed the four year Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy in 2009 and completed a Master's Degree in Business Administration from USC in 2010.
