03/21/2011 – “A” Shift – Structure Fire

Incident # 11-01625 – A home was destroyed in an early morning fire at 872 Buffalo Lane, Monday morning 21-March at 12:16 AM. Engine 19 located approximately 1 mile from the scene, arrived minutes after the dispatch to find half of the singlewide mobile home had already been destroyed and about half of the remaining structure was well involved. Firefighters used a deck gun to knock down the flames, then entered the building with two 1-3/4 handlines. They located a cat in a bedroom on the south end of the building but the animal had expired. Crews extinguished the fire on the south end, saving one room, but the contents were heavily damaged by heat and smoke. Firefighters and Law Enforcement have been unsuccessful in locating the occupant of the residence. The State Police (SLED) has been contacted to assist in the investigation. The cause of the fire in still under investigation. Fire-Rescue Investigators, Firefighters and Law Enforcement were back on the scene early Monday morning to sift through the debris in the daylight as the investigation continues.

Engine 19, Engine 24, Tender 1, Tender 19, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 1, Medic 19, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118 responded. Firefighter/EMT Robbie McAlhaney served as Incident Commander.
