06/10/2011 – MVC with entrapment – “B” Shift

Incident 11-03219 – Station 1 responded as mutual aid to the City of Walterboro Public Safety to perform an extrication, Friday morning 10-June at 10:34. The two car MVC at the intersection of South Jefferies Blvd and Beechwood Road resulted in one injured man being trapped in the vehicle. The man suffered non-life threatening traumatic injuries, but the doors on the small car were damaged and could not be opened manually. Engine 1 and Battalion 1 responded, using Holmatro Rescue Tools to remove the driver’s door. The man was then extricated with full spinal precautions. He was treated during the extrication, then transported to Colleton Medical Center by Medic 1. Traffic on Jefferies Blvd was down to one lane for approximately 30 minutes, until the accident was cleared. Walterboro Public Safety is investigating the crash.

County Engine 1, Medic 1, Battalion 1, Car 116 and Car 117 responded. Walterboro Public Safety Engine 1, 2 and 3 responded.
