09/08/2011 – MVC with Air Evacuation – “B” Shift

Incident # 11-04894 – After some delay, Firefighter-Paramedics reached a man who received multiple traumatic injuries in a roll-over accident, Thursday afternoon 8-September at 15:07. Station # 9 was sent to McDanieltown Road just south of Peirce Road for an over-turned vehicle. They found the small SUV on its side. The vehicle appeared to have rolled over at least once. There was no occupant inside the vehicle and a search of the surrounding area did not turn up any patients. About five minutes after arrival, the 9-1-1 Center received a call that someone had picked the man up at the accident site and drove him to Station # 9 for medical assistance. Medic 9 then responded back to the station. Shortly after making contact with the patient, Medic 9 requested a medical helicopter due to the patient’s multiple injuries and a possible head injury. They treated the man at Station # 9, then transported him approximately 2 miles to a large field near Rehoboth Road and Timber Bay Road. Lifenet 4 responded to the field and flew the man to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston.

Engine 9, Medic 9 and Car 12 responded. Firefighter-EMT Zachery Huber served as McDanieltown Command, while Lieutenant Jimmy Jacques was LZ coordinator.
