11/11/2011 – MVC with Traumatic Injuries Incident # 11-06018 – A two vehicle accident on ACE Basin Parkway at Clinic Drive in Jacksonboro left one man with multiple injuries. The accident occurred at 16:57 when a small car turned into the path of a northbound tour bus. The bus struck the car in the passenger side throwing the car over a ditch into an old parking lot. The bus came to rest in the ditch. The car received heavy damage from the collision, with the driver suffering from multiple non-life threatening traumatic injuries. None of the nine occupants of the bus complained of any injuries. The bus received moderate front end and right side damage, which also disabled the only exit door. Firefighters placed a 14’ extension ladder to one window allowing the occupants a means of egress. The driver of the car was initially unable to exit to the vehicle, however firefighters were able to force open the door just prior to the arrival of Rescue 1. The patient was immobilized and transported to Colleton Medical Center. Traffic on ACE Basin Parkway (US Hwy 17) was down to one lane for a short time. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. |
