12/19/2011 – 40 year awards / Station 3 & 23 Christmas Dinner

Stations 3 and 23 jointly held a Christmas Dinner at Rizer’s Bar-B-Que on Confederate Highway Monday evening 19-December. The Dinner was attended by all personnel at the stations and their families. Two Station 3 members received recognition for serving 40 years on the Fire Department. Alex Carter, who served as Fire Chief of the Town of Lodge Fire Department for most of those forty years prior to the municipality joining the County Fire District and his brother Larry Carter who served as an officer at Station # 3, both received plaques honoring their service to the community. Both men retired from the fire service last year. Alec Carter related some fond memories of when the department was first organized and operated a 1940’s vintage open cab pumper. Both men’s experience and commitment will be missed.
