01/01/2012 – Fatal ATV accident – “A” shift

Incident # 12-00037 – A birthday party turned tragic when a 12 year old girl received critical injuries after an ATV rolled over on her following an accident. The child was transported from a wooded area to a home in the 2000 block of Cavanaugh Road. Firefighter-Paramedics treated the girl at the scene and requested a medical helicopter. A second Medic Unit was called to treat a second injured girl. Lifenet 4 responded and landed in a field behind the residence. The Flight Crew performed RSI on the patient prior to flying her to the Pediatric Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The patient sadly did not survive her injuries. The second patient was transported in stable condition to Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.

Engine 8, Medic 1, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
