02/26/2012 – Structure and woods fire – “B” shift

Incident # 12-01106 – Neighbors in the 100 block of Crestview Lane reported hearing a loud explosion, followed by heavy smoke coming from behind a residence at 128 Crestview Lane, Sunday afternoon 27-February at 13:59. Responding units could see a thick column of black smoke from three miles away. Engine 19 arrived to find a well involved garage, a fully involved passenger car, an approximately 2 acre woods fire and a singlewide mobile home which was smoking on the exterior. Firefighters deployed two 1-3/4 handlines, one to cool the mobile home and the second to extinguish the garage fire. A Forestry Tractor was requested for the woods fire. Crews worked for 25 minutes to control the fire. The garage and vehicle were completely destroyed. The vinyl siding was melted from the back of the mobile home and a second outside structure suffered minor heat damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Engine 19, Engine 24, Tender 1, Tender 19, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 118 responded. Captain Scott Feather served as Incident Commander.
