03/17/2012 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift

Incident # 12-01466 – An early morning fire destroyed a work shop located at 303 White Pine Ave. The caller to 9-1-1 reported the building fire at 06:14, Saturday 17-March. Engine 1 arrived at the dead end road to find the building well involved. The roof had already collapsed. Two 1-3/4 handlines were deployed to the building. Firefighters discovered magnesium inside the structure when the burning metal exploded upon being hit with the water streams. Crews had the fire under control in less than 10 minutes, but worked for nearly 45 minutes to completely extinguish the fire. The building contained a workshop and laundry room. The building and contents were completely destroyed. The cause of the fire appeared to be electrical in nature.

Engine 1, Engine 19, Tender 1, Tender 19, Tender 27, Medic 1, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118 responded. Captain Scott Feather served as Incident Commander.
