03/18/2012 – Double Shooting Incident -  “A” Shift

Incident # 12-01486 and # 12-01487 – According to a Sheriff’s Office press release, at 01:52 Sunday morning 18-March, the 9-1-1 Communications Center received a call from a security officer working at Club Manhattan located at 2922 Ritter Road in the Catholic Hill Community requesting assistance with several individuals who were causing a disturbance. When deputies arrived they found one of the security officers with a gunshot wound to the leg. The security officers reported that they had returned fire on two suspects in a fleeing automobile. Approximately ten minutes later, Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a vehicle matching the description in the 1400 block of Rivers Street. One of the occupants inside the car had a gunshot wound to the lower back.

Medic 6 and Engine 6 responded to Club Manhattan on Ritter Road at 01:54. The 58 year old security officer was treated at the scene for a non-life threatening injury to his right leg. He was transported to Colleton Medical Center without difficulty.

Medic 1 and Engine 1 responded to the 1400 block of Rivers Street at 02:02, to find the 41 year old patient with a life threatening injury to his lower back near the spine. The patient was somewhat combative. He was quickly treated at the scene, then rapidly transported to Colleton Medical Center to be stabilized. Once at the ED, he was treated, then flown by LifeNet 4 to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident.

12-01486 – Engine 6, Medic 6 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.

12-01487 – Engine 1, Medic 1 and Car 111 responded. Deputy Chief David Greene served as Incident Commander.
