24-March-2012 - Carolina Children's Charity Fundraiser

All three shifts and volunteer firefighters participated in collecting money at Wal-Mart Friday, Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with the annual Carolina Children’s Charity Telethon on Channel 2. The organization was created by several Lowcountry Firefighters in an effort to assist families with medical care for children with specific illnesses. Carolina Children's Charity awards financial grants to Lowcountry children with birth defects and/or childhood diseases from birth through 18 years of age. A grant application can be obtained by visiting their website at carolinachildren.org or by contacting the Charity office. The fund collected serve children in Colleton and other Lowcountry Counties. This year, the public donated over twice the funds they did previous years in Colleton County. Over $4000 dollars was delivered to the Telethon in Charleston Sunday evening. Battalion Chief Dan Barb coordinated the collection efforts.
