03/24/2012 – MVC with Air Evacuation – “B” Shift

Incident # 12-01620 – An ATV accident has left an adult male in critical condition. The man was found lying unconscious in the roadway near 1521 Paradise Road at 19:08 Saturday evening 24-March. There were no witnesses to the accident. Engine 29 and Medic 18 arrived to find the man face down in the roadway, unresponsive. They quickly immobilized the man and requested a medical helicopter to respond to the remote rural area. Lifenet 4 flew to a field approximately a mile from the accident scene. The patient who suffered a head injury was RSIed before being transferred to the helicopter. Lifenet 4 flew the man to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston.

Engine 29, Medic 18, Brush 8, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Firefighter Karl Newton Sr. served as Incident Commander.
