03/25/2012 – Structure Fire – “C” Shift                  

Incident # 12-01637 – A pot left cooking on the stove resulted in a fire that heavily damaged a residence at 1042 Creekside Lane near the Pleasant Grove Community. The fire was reported at 22:34 by a neighbor who saw flames coming from the roof. Engine 19 arrived to find heavy smoke conditions and fire coming through the roof in the rear of the doublewide mobile home. Firefighters deployed two 1-3/4 handlines and forced entry through the front door. They quickly knocked down the fire, containing it to the back of the building within 15 minutes. Overhaul took another hour. Approximately 75% of the structure was saved, with many personal belongings being salvaged. Investigators determined the fire started on the stove, then spread to the ceiling and roof. No one was at home when the fire occurred. Units were on the scene for 3 hours.

Engine 5, Engine 19, Tender 5, Tender 17, Tender 19, Tender 26, Medic 19, Medic 26, Battalion 1, Car 12 and Car 118 responded. Firefighter-Paramedic (Acting Battalion Chief) Chris Jones, served as Incident Commander.
