Incident # 12-01943 – An early morning fire destroyed a workshop/storage building located behind the residence at 323 Sixth Street at 04:13, Wednesday 11-April. Battalion 1 arrived to find the approximately 12 x 24 foot wooden building fully involved. Engine 19 deployed one 1-3/4 handline to extinguish the fire. Crews had the fire under control within 10 minutes, but were on the scene for 1-1/2 hours performing overhaul. A nearby wooden fence was also damaged. The building had power connected, however the cause of the fire was determined to be from an unattended burn barrel located only a few feet from the structure. The homeowner had been burning items in the barrel several hours before the building fire was discovered. No injuries were reported.

Engine 19, Engine 24, Tender 19, Tender 26, Tender 27, Medic 19 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
