05/20/2012 – Shooting Incident – “B” Shift

Incident # 12-02692 – An accidental shooting incident sent one man to a Trauma Center. At 17:38, Sunday afternoon 20-May, Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Hardee Circle. A 68 year old male received a single GSW to the upper abdomen from a hand gun. Witnesses advised a group of people were having target practice when the man accidently shot himself. Firefighter-Paramedics quickly treated the man at the scene, then transported him directly to the helipad at Colleton Medical Center. He was transferred to the crew of Lifenet 4, then flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC in Charleston. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

Engine 19, Medic 19, Battalion 1 and Car 12 responded. Battalion Chief Ben Heape served as Incident Commander.
