06/03/2012 – Shooting Incident – “C” Shift Incident # 12-02966 - A 43 year old woman received multiple gunshot wounds Sunday morning 3-June. The incident was reported at 05:27 at 117 Taylor Street, Lot 9 Wiggins Mobile Home Park. According to witnesses, someone fired multiple rounds into the residence from the street. The woman, who was asleep inside, was hit four times, receiving one critical injury to the chest. Firefighter-Paramedics quickly treated her at the scene, then rapidly transported her to Colleton Medical Center. The ED Staff was standing by awaiting the ambulance’s arrival and immediately began life saving measures as they stabilized the patient. A local surgeon also responded to the hospital to assist in treating the woman. After she was stabilized, she was transferred to the Lifenet 7 helicopter and flown to the Trauma Center at MUSC, where she remained in critical condition. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. Medic 1, Battalion 1 and Car 118 responded. Captain Scott Feather served as Incident Commander. |

A second shooting occurred about 19:00 Saturday night in the area of Jefferies Highway north of Walterboro. The patient was shot in the foot and came to the hospital by private car. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating that incident as well.
