06/12/2012 – Shooting Incident – “A” Shift

Alarm # 12-03121 – A shooting incident sent one local man to the hospital Tuesday afternoon 12-June at 16:56. 9-1-1 operators received several reports of a shooting at 189 Beach Road, Druid Hills Apartments with one person being shot. Walterboro Public Safety Officers and Sheriff’s Deputies were on the scene within minutes, finding the parking area littered with shell casings. No patient was located in the immediate area. Minutes later, responding units were informed by dispatch, that the victim had fled to Edisto Terrace Apartments on Mable T. Willis Blvd. about ½ mile away.  Fire-Rescue units were already staged on Mable T. Willis and went in to the complex with Law Enforcement. The victim was found inside an apartment with gunshot wounds to both upper legs. He was treated at the scene, immobilized and moved to Medic 1. No medical helicopters could fly due to poor weather conditions. The man was transported to Colleton Medical Center. Walterboro Public Safety is investigating the incident.

Medic 1, Battalion 1, Car 12, Car 105, Car 107 and Car 110 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
