06/15/2012 – Structure Fire – “A” Shift

Incident # 12-03176 – Fire-Rescue was notified of a home that burned at 801 Gar Road near the Town of Smoaks Friday afternoon 15-June at 13:59. The home evidently burned sometime during the previous night and was not found until the following afternoon. Gar Road is a lightly traveled road located in a rural area. Engine 7 and Engine 18 arrived to find the home completely destroyed. All of the fire had burned out and only some smoldering coals remained. The fire was of a suspicious origin, leading Colleton Fire Investigators to call the State Police Arson Unit  (SLED) to assist in the investigation. Units remained on the scene for five hours. He Sheriff’s Office is also assisting.

Engine 7, Engine 18, Tender 7, Tender 17, Tender 18, Medic 18 and Battalion 1 responded. Battalion Chief Brent Dalton served as Incident Commander.
